Flexible Office Space in Suburban NY Tri-State Locations, Brooklyn and Queens

7/3/2020

As government mandated stay-at-home orders and restrictions in response to COVID-19 begin to ease in phases across New York State, New York City and the greater tri-state area, Workthere has witnessed an increase in enquiries from companies evaluating flexible office solutions in suburban markets. This is often in response to feedback from employees that live in the suburbs expressing an understandable reticence to embark on regular public transit commutes into Manhattan while concurrently expressing a desire to return to an office environment more conducive to their daily work activities. With their employees’ health and wellness front of mind and operating within dynamic and highly unpredictable conditions in the foreseeable near-term, employers may see value to implement a range of “distributed network” approaches in search of an optimal solution for all parties.

If productivity levels remain at least effective while working remotely (this may vary among industries, teams, individuals and the nature of particular work activities), the need to go into a headquarters-style office for all five workdays each and every week may not be as critical. A constellation of flexible workspaces across a metropolitan region providing elasticity to occupancy planning may be the perfect solution to successfully execute an increasingly referenced “hub and spoke” tactical plan.

As of June 16, 2020, for information on interim New York State guidance for office-based work during the COVID-19 public health emergency go here.  For updates on reopening status in New Jersey go here, and for Connecticut go here.  While each person’s degree of comfort around returning to an office is different and dependent on multiple variables, we strongly encourage everyone to fully understand new safety measures in place at any location including but not limited to compliance with state-specific guidelines referenced above, potential occupancy restrictions for social distancing, provisions of personal protective equipment (PPE), and enhanced cleaning specifications.
