Located just east of the Westside, Central LA encompasses the historic neighborhoods of Hollywood, West Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire, Miracle Mile, Silverlake, Echo Park, and Los Feliz. The burrows of Central LA are densely populated, quite diverse and heavily influenced by the growing younger population. What does West Hollywood have to offer?
Just east of Beverly Hills is the happening neighborhood of West Hollywood. This area is characterized by its young, hip and trendy spirit as well as having one of the most prominent LGBTQ communities in the country.
Melrose Place is a fan favorite for both locals and tourists alike for its boutique shopping, art galleries and hot restaurants such as Nobu, The Nice Guy and Joan’s on Third. Another buzzing area in West Hollywood is the famous Sunset Strip which is LA’s hub for entertainment and nightlife. Trendy nightclubs, renowned comedy clubs and legendary music venues including the Troubadour, the Roxy and Whisky a Go-Go line the busy and colorful streets.

Things to do in Mid-Wilshire/Miracle Mile
The neighborhoods of Mid-Wilshire and Miracle Mile are located side by side and comprise the area between West Hollywood and Downtown LA. This highly-diverse area is primarily made up of commercial properties and occupied largely by tenants in the entertainment and legal industries.
Miracle Mile is often cited as a cultural center due to its wealth of clothing shops, restaurants, galleries and most prominently, museums. Miracle Mile sometimes referred to as “Museum Row” is home to some of Los Angeles’ top museums and exhibits such as The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Petersen Automotive Museum, La Brea Tar Pits and soon to be Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which is set to open in 2020.

Within close proximity of Downtown LA, Hollywood and The Valley, Silverlake, Echo Park, and Los Feliz make up a small pocket of LA with a strong and unique sense of identity. It’s an area full of hipsters, foodies and creative individuals with a passion for local coffee shops, clothing boutiques and street art. Both areas have strong indie rock scenes with many notable record stores like Sick City records and venues like The Satellite and The Echo.
Food, especially food that is original, experimental and at times outright wild, is without a doubt, a key trait of Silverlake. Sqirl, Night + Market and Silverlake Ramen top the list for some of the most popular spots.
Attractions include the historic Dodger Stadium, one of the oldest ballparks in baseball. Other attractions include the Silver Lake Reservoir which has a moderately-difficult trail through the hills as well as a dog park. Not too far from the reservoir is Echo Park Lake where locals and tourists alike can enjoy paddleboarding amidst lotus flowers.

While this part of town doesn’t have their own station, it is within two miles of Downtown LA’s metro center, making it an accessible area from virtually all of LA County.
