The fashion district, located in the southwest part of Downtown, is Los Angeles’ mecca for fashion and merchandise of all sorts. The district spans over 100 blocks and includes over 2,000 retail shops. In addition to retailers, the district is full of design studios, warehouses and distribution factories.
One of the major attractions in this area is Santee Alley which sits between Santee Street and Maple Avenue and extends all the way from Olympic Boulevard to 12th Street. Santee Alley is a bustling destination, packed full of shoppers. Other popular retailers include the Dover Street Market, which features some of the hottest streetwear and designer brands such as Gucci, Comme des Garçons, Balenciaga and Raf Simmons.
Another popular attraction is the weekly open-air food market, “Smorgasburg,” which is one of the biggest food markets in the country. The market features some of LA’s top food, art and clothing vendors. The LA Flower District, the largest flower market in the U.S, is also a popular site for many Los Angeles residents.
