As part of Savills Summer Scheme, Workthere was pleased to welcome interns Fiona Crowley and Stuart Paterson to the team during July. Here they write about their experience…

Fiona Crowley, Savills Summer Scheme, July 2017

I was fortunate enough to be accepted onto the Savills Summer Scheme for 2017 and complete a months-long internship with Workthere; Savills new online listing platform and brokerage service for flexible office space. Prior to my internship, I had very little knowledge surrounding the flexible office market, which meant that my time with Workthere was a particularly interesting and educational experience as it enabled me to further my knowledge and understanding of the sector.

Workthere has a very enthusiastic and attentive team who made me feel very welcome from day one. They got me stuck in to a variety of roles throughout my internship, which meant that no day was the same. Some days I would be out meeting with providers face-to-face and viewing flexible workspaces across  London,  and other days I would be contacting providers and occupiers by telephone or email, assisting them in listing their space on the Workthere website or finding suitable space to meet their needs. Another role that I undertook involved generally helping out with the Workthere website, whether that be making updates on the site or helping with blogs on relevant industry themes.

All in all I truly enjoyed both learning about and working alongside Workthere’s team. It was an exciting time to be part of the team given that the business had recently launched in February and is growing at a fast pace.

Stuart Patterson, Workthere Intern, July 2017

Like Fiona, I was also part of the  Savills Summer Internship programme and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay on for a further 3 weeks with Workthere.

From day one I felt like part of the team and was given interesting responsibilities. Workthere is a  close, fun and innovative team that keeps you interested and involved. My role concerned the administration of the Workthere website, uploading a large quantity of new properties and reviewing other uploads. However, there is a diverse pool of work to do at Workthere and I also got involved with site visits, which was a very interesting alternative to the online side of the business. Workthere is on the cutting edge of an already innovative sector, making it a very exciting place to work and you feel rewarded by contributing meaningfully to the team’s success. If you do get the chance to Workthere (see what I did there?) and are looking for an exciting and different job in real estate then don’t hesitate get in contact with the team!
