International real estate advisor Savills today (Monday 9 September) announced the launch of Workthere in Spain. Workthere is a website listing platform (workthere.com) and brokerage service that helps businesses find flexible, co-working and serviced office space around the world.

Workthere first launched in the U.K. in 2017 and has now expanded to seven countries globally, with local teams to service clients in Singapore, Germany, France, Ireland, The Netherlands and, more recently, the US.

Spain boasts one of the fastest growing co-working markets in Europe and Madrid (+160%) and Barcelona (+103%) have seen the exceptional growth of co-working operators leasing office space, according to Savills. Workthere in Spain will streamline the process of searching for, identifying and leasing office space for those seeking co-working premises.

Alejandro Campoy, Managing Director, Savills Aguirre Newman, comments:

The launch of Workthere in Spain shows the ongoing commitment we are making to a sector, which we think will see exponential growth in the coming years as employers and employees alike seek that extra degree of flexibility. Workthere will also serve to show how we combine our experience and innovation to help both workspace users, landlords and co-working providers by proactively adapting to the usage trends and changing demands of our clients.

According to recent research from Savills, Madrid and Barcelona rank 12th and 13th among European cities in which demand for co-working is expected to grow, according to a set of criteria related to economic growth, job creation, innovation and venture capital investment. In addition, Workthere’s most recent “What Co-workers Want” report*, which has surveyed 11,000 workers in office across Europe, Spain is, alongside Ireland, the country where the preference for co-working space is greatest; 35% of those surveyed stated that they preferred more flexible office space over more conventional offices.

The Workthere team will be led by Ana Zavala, also National Director of the Offices Division at Savills Aguirre Newman, who comments:

The co-working phenomenon has grown incredibly quickly in Spain and we are seeing more and more of our clients wanting advice on the best options for new, flexible office space in a market which is becoming increasingly diversified. Finding more agile solutions for our clients will be a primary focus for us whether it be for five or 500 desks.

Cal Lee, Founder and Head of Workthere, added:

Demand for flexible office space continues to grow on a global platform and we are therefore delighted to be strengthening the Workthere brand in Europe with a new presence in Spain. This is a key market for us and we look forward to working with the local team to create a go-to brand for businesses looking for flexible workspace across the country.
